چکیده

Production of microlens arrays using the resist reflow technique has been extensively reported1,2. Theses arrays have fill factors approaching 75% and in lensed systems the unlensed light introduces noise into the imaging system. N T Gordon, C L Jones and D Purdy3 reported a sophisticated techniques able to create full fill, however, this is expensive. Davies and McCormick4, using optical lithography, proposed an alternative method for photosculpting full fill factor arrays. Using large area arrays in afocal combinations obviates the need for good spherical or chromatic aberration compensation. However, when the arrays are employed as single layer devices in image decoding elements, high quality lenses are required. The microengineering of corrected microlens arrays, using optical lithography and standard laboratory replication techniques will be illustrated.

Fill-factor improvement of Si CMOS single-photon avalanche diode detector arrays by integration of diffractive microlens arrays.

Single-photon avalanche diode (SPAD) detector arrays generally suffer from having a low fill-factor, in which the photo-sensitive area of each pixel is small compared to the overall area of the pixel. This paper describes the integration of different configurations of high efficiency diffractive optical microlens arrays onto a 32 × 32 SPAD array, fabricated using a 0.35 µm CMOS technology proce...

Concave Microlens Array Mold Fabrication in Photoresist Using UV Proximity Printing

This paper presents a simple and effective method to fabricate a polydimethyl-siloxane (PDMS) microlens array with a high fill factor, which utilizes the UV proximity printing and photoresist replication methods. The concave microlens array mold was made using a printing gap in lithography process, which utilizes optical diffraction of UV light to deflect away from the aperture edges and produc...

Optimization and theoretical modeling of polymer microlens arrays fabricated with the hydrophobic effect.

High-performance polymer microlens arrays were fabricated by means of withdrawing substrates of patterned wettability from a monomer solution. The f-number (f(#)) of formed microlenses was controlled by adjustment of monomer viscosity and surface tension, substrate dipping angle and withdrawal speed, the array fill factor, and the number of dip coats used. An optimum withdrawal speed was identi...

Performance analysis of a 127-micron pixel large-area TFT/photodiode array with boosted fill factor

Sensor fill factor is one of the key pixel design requirements for high performance imaging arrays. In our conventional imaging pixel architecture with a TFT and a photodiode deposited in the same plane, the maximum area that the photodiode can occupy is limited by the size of the TFT and the surrounding metal lines. A full fill factor array design was previously proposed using a continuous sen...
